Grammatical Aspect in Bakhtiari Lori

Abstract

This paper presents grammatical aspect in the Bakhtiari dialect. The study is based on the theoretical framework of Comrie (1976). The data are gathered through speaking with the elderly and illiterate monolingual people in Dehno village of Kohrang town in Chaharmal o Bakhtiari. These people are selected because they exposed with formal language less than others. So it has helped us to obtain information on the natural environment and away from the influence of the Persian words and it provides quantified and comparable data. For doing this research, the uttrances of speakers were recorded to provide uniform classification of data. Language data are analayzed. In this dialect, complete analysis has been made to study imperfective, perfective and perfect aspects.­ The imperfective aspect is divided into progressive, habitual and iterative aspect. In sum, the morphological forms of the verb with different tenses, auxilary ­verbs and present grammatical aspect in Bakhtiari dialect. In this dialect, like Persian, the distinction among grammatical aspects is recognizable by the presence or absence of morphemes.
