This study investigates the conceptualization of metaphorical–conceptual compounds involving the body part dast (“hand”) in the Kalhori dialect of Kurdish within the framework of Construction Morphology, grounded in the Cognitive Linguistics approach. The primary aim of this research is to identify and analyze the schemas underlying endocentric and exocentric compounds in this dialect. The data were extracted from Xo’r Helat Dictionary (Karimpour, 2001) and examined through a descriptive–analytical method. To this end, both nominal and verbal compounds formed with dast were collected and analyzed in terms of their semantic, structural, and constructional properties. The findings indicate that a significant portion of these compounds function as exocentric constructions without a clear morphological head, reflecting the productive flexibility of conceptual and metaphorical combination in Kalhori Kurdish. Moreover, the results demonstrate that metaphorical extensions cover diverse semantic domains, including social actions, moral characteristics, and psychological states. The analysis further shows that Construction Morphology provides an effective theoretical tool for explaining the hierarchical relationships between form and meaning in Kurdish compounds. Overall, the outcomes of this study not only deepen our understanding of conceptual–metaphorical word formation in Kalhori but also offer a broader framework for examining similar phenomena in other Kurdish dialects and languages at large.
